Module 2: Tibetan Wellness Diagnosis Method  (Advanced Singing Bowl Technique & KuNye Massage, 2-4 Apr 2018)

LEARNING METHOD

THEORY: This course provides you with an understanding of Traditional Tibetan Medicine that serves as a base for the successful application of advance singing bowl technique and Tibetan KuNye Massage.

Before starting the hands-on practice of the practise, it is important that you are familiar with the background of this ancient medicine, as well as comprehend its particular perspective on the human body and mind; the concept of health and sickness; the various diagnosis methods (tongue, pulse, interrogation, urine, etc.); the impact of external factors and lifestyles; and the different treatment methods. Therefore, the first part of the course covers the theoretic aspects that give you a rich foundation for practicing singing bowl healing and the Tibetan KuNye massage.

PRACTICE: In the second part of the course we will practice the different diagnosis methods with singing bowl techniques. We will learn how to make the Zathi Dukpa (herbal bags) and to apply the complete session of the KuNye Massage, composed by 8 steps and more than 80 different sequences. The practical part follows a step-by-step method, in which every sequence of the massage is explained in detail, as well as its benefits and contraindications. The practice constitutes 80% of the course and give us the opportunity to master this technique fully, so that we can start giving the massage from that day on.

OBJECTIVES

  • · Understand the history of Tibetan Medicine, the influences and origins.
  • · Understand the basic foundations of Tibetan Medicine and its holistic point of view (body, mind and spirit) and understand the human energy system.
  • · Be able to apply the different diagnosis methods in order to tailor the treatment according to each client needs.
  • · To see the human being from a holistic point of view (body, mind and spirit) and to understand not only the anatomy of the body, but the energy system of it.
  • · Be familiar with the effects, indications and counter-indications of the massage.
  • · Be able to perform and apply properly this massage technique and to control the pressure and movements of the strokes and massage sequences following the same steps as the original Tibetan ancient doctors centuries back.

This course does not make you a Tibetan Doctor, as the Tibetan medicine is studied during 5 years. But it gives you enough knowledge of the Tibetan Diagnosis methods and allows you to practice the Tibetan KuNye massage in a professional way.

    Student Testimonial From previous workshop

    ~
The part I feel most benefited and intrigued from the workshop would be how Cesar integrates his background as a physical therapist and understanding in Tibetan medicine, and with the use of singing bowls develops a more around holistic treatment for the wellbeing of his clients.

(It's not a specific thing I pick up from class. It's more about his enthusiasm in combining what he has learned from his years of working and travelling and learning from different masters around the globe. And it is all done in the interests of his clients and promoting the concept of "Wellbeing" in the health industry, not just the time out spa but also the medical field.

I see he draws inspirations around him and be the innovation himself too. And this makes him intriguing, for me.)

Although we were not able to go further in depth on how we should administer the appropriate treatments corresponding to various diagnosis based on the clients' constitutions, I certainly feel Cesar has delivered the course content thoroughly and effectively, given the time factor and different student background either in western or traditional Chinese medicine, or in general.

I also appreciate Cesar's openness and willingness to share his thoughts and experiences in class. And I do look forward to our next level of learning.

Thank you ALL! ~ (Anita, 2016)

    ~
Through this first course I learnt various useful techniques supported by applicable theory to understand and deliver a Sound Therapy relaxing session.

This course supports my previous learnings and brings valuable knowledge that I can incorporate to my other learnings in alternative therapies. Cesar brought authenticity, professionalism and passion to his presentation. This course I experienced is well balanced with theoretical and practical aspects and really gave me desire to learn more deeply through practice. I appreciated Cesar's willingness and openness to share his insights and knowledge as well as adapting to our questions and interests throughout the workshop, meanwhile he did a good job in keeping us on track so we get the best from his material. I am looking forward to learn other levels! Thank you. ~ (Anne, 2015)

    Quotes

"Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder." - Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, MD, Author of "The Healing Power of Sound: Recovery from Life-Threatening Illness using Sound, Voice, and Music"

"When we are in a state of health, we're like an extraordinary orchestra that's playing a wonderful symphony of the self. But what happens if the second violin player loses her sheet music? She begins to play out of tune, and pretty soon the entire string section sounds bad. Pretty soon, in fact, the entire orchestra is off. This is a metaphor for disease." - Jonathan Goldman, Author of "Healing Sounds: The Power of Harmonics" and Director of the Sound Healers Organization
